Injury Prevention and rehabilitation

Post Physio Rehab and Injury Prevention
All injuries have an impact on daily life. The rehabilitation process is often long, hard work and frustrating. You are often limited in your favourite activities and this frustration can lead to periods of inactivity resulting in a prolonged rehabilitation period both physically and mentally. The desire to get back to your activity as soon as possible often involves taking short cuts in the rehab process and ending up with a new or repeat injury. It is often very difficult to self monitor the process of regaining full strength and stability.
Injury rehab can help decrease pain, increase mobility and help your body and mind function the way it should without limitation. An exercise based programme involving specific simple, yet affective, balance, stretching, strengthening and mobility exercises can help you achieve this.
Whether it’s to increase your ability to perform daily tasks with more ease and less pain, or to return to recreational sport or work duties after an injury, our injury rehab and prevention programmes can help you.
Not only will we develop a plan to assist in the rehab and strengthening of the affected area, we will also design your programme to incorporate your entire body and mind allowing you to return to your normal routine with confidence.

Help on your posture
Posture is the position in which you hold your body upright against gravity while standing, sitting or lying down. Good posture involves training your body to stand, walk, sit and lie in positions where the least strain is placed on supporting muscles and ligaments during movement or weight-bearing activities. Proper posture:
Keeps bones and joints in the correct alignment so that muscles are being used properly.
Helps decrease the abnormal wearing of joint surfaces that could result in arthritis.
Decreases the stress on the ligaments holding the joints of the spine together.
Prevents the spine from becoming fixed in abnormal positions.
Prevents fatigue because muscles are being used more efficiently, allowing the body to use less energy.
Prevents strain or overuse problems.
Prevents backache and muscular pain.
Contributes to a good appearance
Many people have poor posture. Even more fail to realize the importance of good posture. Whilst a lot about posture is common sense, some of it is quite subtle. Learn how to improve your posture whilst standing, sitting, lying, driving, lifting and so on and help to reduce your risk of injury.
Sport Specific
Whatever the sport and whether injuries be sprains, strains or bruising, a quicker and more thorough recovery will be made if treated early. Early treatment will help minimise tissue damage and provide for a quicker return to active sport. Our Rehab and Prevention facilities are second to none and we provide treatment for both acute and chronic injuries and our programmes include balance, core stability, strength and conditioning which are essential in getting back to full training and competition at the earliest opportunity.
We can tailor-make a programme to be sports-specific. Get fit to ski or for other strenuous activities. If you are going on a sporting holiday or preparing for a physically demanding activity, then consult one of our trainer’s to help prepare you and reduce the risk of injury.
Getting fit for skiing and boarding

Whether you board or ski, goofy or regular, our Ski and Snowboarding fitness training will give you the strength and stamina and flexibility to make the most of your time on the slopes, and off!
Whilst skiing is a very enjoyable holiday for all skill levels, it pays to be properly prepared. We provide advice about avoiding injuries, muscle soreness and maximizing enjoyment on that long-awaited skiing holiday.
Golf
Golfers aren't athletes... right? Make no mistake - golfers (at any level) ARE athletes and the golf swing DOES require a great deal of athleticism.
Strength, power, flexibility, balance, core stability, body awareness, even endurance... they're all physical traits that every consistent golfer (even the fair-weather players) must possess.
We can offer you advice on how to avoid injury and how to maximize your enjoyment of your round and to help you keep your game above par.
Running Drills & Skills Sessions
Running, especially marathons, are highly demanding on the body. It is crucial that you make your runs with the right knowledge to avoid injury.
It is not hard to teach someone to run better. Often a small change can make a big difference but those corrections need to be practiced and practiced well or the old habits return - “Practice makes permanent- perfect practice makes perfect”
These sessions cover improving use of the arms for power, acceleration and efficiency, improved foot strike (positions of foot on landing) to reduce impact forces, increase power from the calf muscles and increase the rate of leg turn over.
Drill and skills of running sessions consist of plyometrics, strength and stability exercises to practice correct form under close supervision.
Where are we?
All sessions are held at The Dance Studio, Staveley, The Salutation Health Club and Spa, Ambleside, however we also offer home visits. Contact us now for more information on all our classes, 1-1 options, and home visits.
